Lake Superior Chapter ASTD
The membership of the Lake Superior Chapter of ASTD (American Society for Training and Development) is comprised of an eclectic mix of energetic and dedicated learning professionals committed to promoting training and human resource development throughout our community. Our members include trainers, educators, human resource practitioners, consultants, coaches, and other individuals dedicated to promoting the understanding of the training profession and furthering the professional and personal development of its fellow members.
ASTD Lake Superior Chapter is proud to have achieved 100% CORE by meeting all 18 CORE requirements!
In addition, we are recognized for having 35-50% joint membership with National ASTD!

Succession and Organizational Transition
This presentation will explore the relationship between organizational culture and leadership succession. Those who attend this session will:
• Understand the relationship between organizational culture and the challenges faced during leadership succession;
• Be able to utilize succession as an opportunity to change direction of the organization’s cultural evolution (including when to hire an insider versus an outsider); and
• Learn how to retain and manage critical organizational knowledge before, during and following leadership transitions.
Robert J. Hartl…is Associate Professor of Management at the College of St. Scholastica (CSS). His expertise includes organization development (OD), process consultation, organizational behavior, and human resource management. Bob is a well-known process consultant who is a senior partner in Hartl Pearson Consulting. His practice emphasizes change initiatives in the health care industry. He especially enjoys helping people learn and apply the principles of planned change
